“God make me good. But not yet.” -- real quote from Saint Augustine, who was North African by the way.

I hope my puppet creature wasn't too blasphemous for Catholics. I really didn't know how else to drive home how transformative his dogma has been within multiple religions on this planet.

For some yes. For this one no. Have you ever seen The Blues Brothers?

I don’t like Saint Augustine or Thomas Acquinas. Both are massive misogynists though both did believe the fetus did not become “ensouled” until “the quickening,” which only happens during the 2nd trimester. I didn’t feel my daughter’s movements until the 4 ½-5th months.

Then there is that Numbers 5:11-31 chapter and verse where dirt water is given to a woman to cause an abortion.

I have seen it.

Everything I know about Augustine, I learned as an adult. I had no idea how profoundly he impacted and continues to impact this planet.

It’s kind of humorous. As much as my childhood pastor railed against Catholics, so much of his dogma came from Augustine.

I consider myself a Franciscan. Its theology is much more loving and inclusive. Franciscan theology believes we were saved by the Incarnation. The Crucifixion happened because of man, and Jesus went to the cross willingly out of loved. Archeologists and scholars who have gone to Gethsemane remark how easy it was for Jesus to escape. My favorite Franciscans are Richard Rohr, OFM and Servant of God Thea Bowman, FSPA. Blessed John Duns Scotus and Saint Bonaventure are great.

I also don’t like Thomas Acquinas because he believed animals didn’t have soul and wouldn’t go to Heaven. Not for Franciscan. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron of ecology, the environment and animals along with Italy. Franciscans believe all of creation goes to heaven.

I think you may like Richard Rohr. My two favorite books of his are The Universal Christ and Eager to Love. There are lots of videos of him on YouTube. He founded The Center for Action and Contemplation in New Mexico that has a web page.

Does Congress have the authority under the Constitution to hand lawmaking power to the President? I’m not a lawyer, but I would think that should require a constitutional amendment. It would violate the provisions of Article I.

On the other hand, if the Regime continues to ignore the law and the courts, and uses military force against the public’s exercise of Constitutional freedoms, I suppose debating Constitutional law is a moot point. Then it will have to be war to oust the dictator and restore the Republic. Will the military support the Constitution or the dictator?

Judging by the reactions of the newly minted Second Lts. at West Point this year ("If we have to shake his hand, does that mean we're violating our Honor Code?" Turns out the faculty thought that would be the case, and the kids didn't have to after all...plus the Tangerine Idi Amin buggered out right afterwards :D) and the probable reactions of the National Guard and Marines he called up for NO GOOD REASON here in L.A. (long story); I'm not too worried.

Yes, he was literally backed by probably the only ones at Fr. Bragg that voted for him, but that's probably only a fraction of the folks there, and quite possibly a less than 50% one. ;-)

(Long Story: turns out, when he called up and shipped off those 2000 National Guards and 700 Marines, he had NO place for them to crash [the 3rd Amendment won't let them just commandeer people's houses], no food, no water, no rooms, no provisions, period, for them, and he only has them deployed for 29 DAYS. If it were /30/ days, the Federal government would have to provide for them; this way, if they want things like food, water, etc., they have to pay for it themselves, out of pocket. X-P

One suggestion from a famous, long-time writer, who'd previously lived in L.A., was this: Provide the troops with free food and water while protesting. See how they feel about us then. :D)

I wholeheartedly agree that charities, restaurants, churches, and other civic institutions should treat deployed troops with kindness and provide food and other comforts.

It’s a brilliant strategy. We are all Americans, and we should all be on the side of the Constitution. Defuse the conflict Trump wants to generate.

I despair….I do not listen, I only read.

I adore and respect Andra. I have been with her since she started “How Protect 2025 Will Ruin Your Life” and bought the young people in my life a subscription. (They all voted Harris Walz by the way, despite living in That God Forsaken Place formerly known as Texas). Would love to know what Andra said. But…..not enough to listen. Listening takes way more time than reading. I am old. I have to choose how I spend the minutes and hours of life I have left.

Like you, I'm more reader than watcher/listener. I usually read the transcripts if I don't have time to put something on in the background. I do think you'd laugh at the beginning, though. I'm absurdly proud of my St Augustine puppet. :)

(I'm glad to hear your targeted young people voted the right way. I know you were worried about that given where they live. I hope your gift subs helped them in the voting booth.)
