My favorite part was (paraphrasing) Gawds lesson to parents:

If you want your children to be atheist, take them to church and make them read the bible.

The bible was cobbled together by mere mortal men to further their own nasty agendas. It has nothing to do with God or with Jesus. The only thing we know with any certainty that Jesus told us is to "Love one another." If we do that, we do not need the pedantic and insulting 10 Commandments.

Was it that one, or the Golden Rule (no, Nixon, you got it wrong; it's "Do unto others as YOU would have done to YOU") that Jesus said comprised "the whole of the Law"?

Something simple, at any rate; if Moses had gotten that option, he could've come back from the Mountain with a couple of rocks with those engraved on them. ;)

Your guest was remarkable. In my humble opinion, he has been taking it on the chin for all of us, on purpose. It must be difficult to convince or even just inform people when their beliefs often run deeper than their critical thinking skills ever could.

OMG, yes; every time I hear about the history of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments (the Old wasn't written down 'til like 750-700 BC or so; before that, it was likely oral traditions, and the New -- how many times has the New been "edited"? How many wildly different languages has it been translated to, from the original Heavenly Messenger to Human in the first place?), I can't take Bible Fundamentalists seriously. X-D

It's been suggested that the committee (oy...) that King James got together for his "edition" knew which side of the bread their butter was on, and who was supplying the dairy directly. And wrote their translation accordingly... X-P

Catholic Bible: "Thou shall not suffer a poisoner [from the Hebrew terms "herbalist + bad" {evil, stupid, or incompetent}] to live."

King Jimmy: "Waahhh! I was raised by highly powerful women who might've been smarter than me...make it 'thou shall not suffer a WITCH to live'!!!"
