I am drenched in sadness over recent events. But, I had another checkup with the cancer doctor today. My boobies have stayed cancer-free and all my blood work was perfect. One good thing in a row. I'll take it.

Good for you. Congrats!

Amen to that sister.

Disappointed in people. Mostly the ones that couldn't vote for her because she was female. WTF. I mean, we have wayyyyy better management skills.

At least I’m functioning today. I didn’t sleep Tuesday night and spent most of yesterday on bed. Couldn’t focus.

I’m not even American…. I am so scared for you and the rest of the world………this feels like the beginning of the end, this must be how it felt in the run up to WW2…….I hope this isn’t the start of WW3…..it’s just UNBELIEVABLE…….thank fuck I live in Scotland…..people here are just incredulous at the stupidity of your country !!!

Expand full comment

As an American I feel the same…incredulous.

Expand full comment

I might be coming to Scotland... permanently. It sounds sane. 😁

You would be very welcome……we welcome immigrants ♥️

Expand full comment

Got room for one more?

Expand full comment

Scotland has plenty of space and we need immigration because of falling birth rates….why are people scared of immigrants ?, they are not the enemy!!!

Expand full comment

Well, unfortunately, I can no longer give birth as I shall soon be entering crone phase (not looking forward to the hot flashes), but I can bring my son. He's a wee thing yet, but kind and industrious and will make a fine citizen someday. I suppose the hubby can tag along, too.

I love Scotland. The people there were much more accepting of me, and a lot more friendly. The English were downright rude, and thought I was just a spoiled American brat. I would love to live in Scotland.

I have thought of Scotland or the Republic of Ireland.

Think about Australia, too. Yes, some of the creatures are venomous (as are some of the politicians) but at least we don't have that stinkin' Electoral College rubbish. You'd have to learn to spell properly, though.

OOOooooo, and I forgot to say …

Registering to vote and voting in Australia are both supposedly *COMPULSORY* by Federal law.

Usually 90 to 95 percent of Australians actually and formally vote in Council, State and Federal elections.

That means that insane amounts of money and time and spam are obviated because nobody has to do all this "Get Out the Vote" junk. The relevant gummint might remind people: "Vote or you get fined."

What a RELIEF!

I would love to live in Cairns. But we probably don't enough money to pass the entrance exam.

Expand full comment

You've got be able to say "Cairns" properly, too. Really nasal and long, lots of ngngng in the background, sort of "Kee (very nasal)-air (even more nasal)-nnnngngnnns". Like you really hate the place.

Also, here's a warning. The further north you go in Australia (A-stray-lia) the worse the predators are. Carpet snakes like boa constrictors. Poisonous cane toads the size of footballs. Cattle ticks bigger than avocados that wil fang you, bury their heads in your flesh, spit into your blood and suck you dry. Sharks? Don't get me started on the sharks. Or the flies and mosquitoes. And the bloody place is full of Australians.

You might consider Ireland!

Florence, a BFF of mine lives in Northamptonshire and she is devastated. What boggles her mind is American whine about our economy. To quote her, "The economy is bad everywhere! And it's worse over here!"" I had a staunch Republican tell me "I vote my pocket book." Interesting, since picking the pockets of middle income Americans is what Trump does best. Now, then, Florence, not all Americans are stupid. Some are evil. But those of us posting here don't want to be painted with the stupid-evil brush. I'd be obliged if you'd take that into consideration. Thanks.

I don't think it was explained to the US population enough that the whole world's economy suffered as COVID restrictions receded, but that the US is doing better than most. That fact has made me so frustrated.

I am amazed that so many people can just ignore facts and follow this insane group of people. We also are very worried about world events, especially since this election. We are ALL in this together.

Thanks for your support. I have residency in Portugal and plan to spend most of that time in Portugal going forward.

Florence, I have a BFF who lives in Northamptonshire. What boggles her mind is the great American whine about "the economy". It's bad everywhere! I had a staunch Republican tell me "I vote my pocket book.". Well, good for her because picking the pockets of middle income Americans is what Trump does with gusto. About us being a country of stupid people, well yes and many are evil as well. But they are not here on this forum. Having said that...my flag doesn't fit in my trash barrel.

Numb. Yesterday I was in despair. Today I'm numb. By Saturday, when I have to stand against anti-abortion protesters on the sidewalk at my local Planned Parenthood, I hope to be to the anger stage, because believe you me, I've got some shit to say to those people, and God help the one who stands against me.

Suggestion to motivate you: Just think of all the women who could be rendered unable to get pregnant again, or worse, die in a parking lot because they aren't able to get the healthcare they need and deserve due to a nationwide abortion ban. Give 'em all kinds of Hell!!! 😠😡🤬

Expand full comment

Tell them miscarriages far outnumber abortions.

Their God snuffs out about 25% of foetuses, so they should pee orff and protest outside their churches instead.

Expand full comment

Give 'em hell, Elaine!

Expand full comment

Ask them if they're aware of the women who've died because in the states where terminations have been banned (ie Texas), doctors are reluctant to help women suffering miscarriages in case the doctor is charged with performing an abortion. In some South American countries, women have been imprisoned for having natural miscarriages. Is that their vision for the USA?

(I've never been to the USA, but I have learned about this - so why haven't they?)

I am feeling sad, disappointed and mad! Don’t know whether to hit fight or flight mode! I prayed and prayed to you and the first time I did, shots rang out and I felt like you had issued a warning shot to him, but it didn’t change anything! I am no longer speaking with much of my family and am disgusted that I raised children that would vote for that pile of shit! I am going to Aruba in the 20th and all my Xmas money will be spent there!! No one is getting gifts this year except the one I know voted for Kamala!

To vote for Trump in 2024 after seeing all the shit he has pulled in the last 8 years is nothing less than absolute insanity. Frankly, I feel like this country is populated by zombies, and I am now hiding in my house terrified they are coming to get me. This is a nightmare. I refuse to let Trump be my president. To maintain my sanity, I will henceforth call myself a Californian. I am utterly ashamed, embarrassed and appalled by the mouth-breathing swarms of maggots all around me.
