I saw a couple T@&$las in the parking lot at the Art Center where I teach when I arrived for class this morning. I flipped them off. I would have liked to vandalize them, but alas, I am not a vandal. So I ruthlessly FLIPPED THEM THE BIRD. The cars did not notice, but I felt better.
"Oh, oh, oh; I hope nothing happens to this YYUUUGGGGE stack of open and loosely capped cans of paint that I and several of my classmates are carrying all at once in a Lazy Person's Load across the parking lot; oh, oh, oh..."
Isn’t that illegal because trademarks/copyright laws?? And you can’t hide your cyber truck. They’re hideous and only made by Tesla to look like that. So stupid 😅
Let’s use a search engine to see just how illegal it is to put another company’s trademarked logo on the ugliest cars to exist… just fyi, we still know it’s a Tesla. And your bumper stickers aren’t fooling anyone. Musk was always crazy- you just didn’t do your research. Did you research how terrible lithium batteries are for the environment before buying your Teslas? Or just follow the trend? 🤔Ever wonder why we don’t have an alternative to lithium batteries? Did you research how we even obtain lithium? Just food for thought Tesla car owners.
Oh what’s that any search engine that’s not Google? (who we should all boycott too)- depends on the country, state, and jurisdiction.
Not a criminal offense since you OWN that item, in this case your Tesla. It can turn into a more serious crime like fraud if you try to sell the vehicle and pass it off as the changed brand badge/emblem (VINs tell one the make and model of each car), it could complicate manufacturer’s warranties (depending on the manufacturer), harder to identify and find your car if stolen, harder to sell, could complicate insurance (if they’re not notified but find out because you got into a car accident), and if you’re trying to sell the car and don’t disclose debadging.. it’s fraud.
I really thought this would fall under counterfeiting … the intellectual property part is the design and other aspects of the car. The badge is seen as a marketing tool. So Tesla owners- we see you.
Real IP lawyers- please correct me.
Couldn’t find law firm website discussing this. Only found ones speaking on laws specific to certain states. One was California and it was discussing more about intellectual property for patenting a vehicle and why patents are important and what it protects for the creator. Specific to Orange County, CA. And another law firm only speaking to California laws about debadging. So someone has to look up one’s specific state and find those law firm websites with answers. 🙃
I THINK the trademark law is mostly to keep auto dealership from deceptive practices? As an owner you can put pretty much anything you want on your car....
Kind of like the THIS LABEL [on a mattress, pillow, whatever] MUST NOT BE REMOVED!!!!!!! (except by the consumer [when I was a kid, I could only think: "I have to try to EAT this thing before I can remove this stupid label?!"])? :D
But yeah, I think AS is right and has done their homework. :)
I don't think anyone is trying to fool someone into thinking it's NOT a Tesla - despite the logo, it's pretty clear what it is. But it's perhaps a way to show someone else their thoughts on Musk and keep 'em laughing so that their car doesn't get vandalized. There has been a lot of vandalism going on lately to those ugly-ass cars!
Well buy a car from someone who grew up with Nazi sympathizers and does multiple Seig Heils…. You get what you deserve. And goes back to my question of did they buy the car because it was trendy? Buy without researching and researching Musk? Stinky Musk bought Tesla didn’t even create the company himself. Seems he and old donny both like to run businesses into the ground.
Well, he DID restart the EV industry in the late Aughts, and was initially successful enough to convince "Detroit Iron" to start building EVs of their own.
I suspect that Martin Eberhard and Mark Tappening, or their people, designed the early Teslas before Fuck-America-Up Elmo bought the company. Those ran pretty well, even if Muskrat kept overpromising and underdelivering on that whole "self-driving" thing....
The Cybertruck? Looks like something a stoned, not-very-smart SF fan would design as a "Car of Tomorrow!", and is chock-full of rookie mistakes like:
● Building a car out of stainless steel and assuming that meant it wouldn't rust ever (something anybody who's ever had stainless steel cookware or tools would know better than to believe!);
● Building it to have sharp edges rather than aerodynamically rounded curves for safety and airflow' and
● Making the rear window all but useless for looking behind you, then figuring a camera(!) would take care of that! (Yes, a camera HELPS, but cars have rear and side windows you can look out of for a reason.)
Oh, thank you, oh Righteous One. Takes me back to the '60's and early '70's, this does. I am sending a HUGE THANK YOU to all the courageous and righteously angry heros and heras out there, putting their words and bodies on the line for everyone. And to all the folk who work behind the lines and in our courts, and to those, like You, who keep the information and encouragement flowing - thank you all for everything. This is a good day to save our home, our world and each other. Let's do it every day.
Some of them do look like fairly ordinary sports car types, at least here in southern California. But those stupid "funky T" logos lead me to snidely call them "Tessies," which will surely annoy any incels who've bought the stupid things to be closer to their hero. X-P
Granted, we like electric cars here, even just the idea of them (though, yeah, lithium batteries are just the worst), so it could've been like a situation with a family member, who'd gotten one years ago, possibly even before Huskless Musk bought the company...
I didn’t go to mass today, but I read your column. Does that count?
Yup! 👍
Thank you. I’ll try to make it next week😏
Thank you, God. I hope you’re watching over all the entities being attacked today by edicts from the White House.
Just the best news! Put that monster out of business! And send him packing!
We do not want and certainly do not need him here!
Quick, God! To the Smitemobile!!! Holy Musk-rat shit, God!!!! The public is on our side!!
Thank you, God! Amen! Awomen!!

I do that to all the trump signs out there. Lol.
Art Center, eh? Hmm... ;)

From multiple sources (Law Stack Exchange, whatincar.com, webnews21.com, autopadre.com, vehiclefreak.com, sellaband.com, carandtruck.org).

I intentionally didn’t use or look at Reddit. Anyone can claim to be a lawyer on there. Also loads of misinformation
It wasn't legal advice, it was pointing out how a television program uses "fake badges" for humorous purposes.
I think about that all the time haha.

It's badly-designed and it's butt-ugly.
Any worse than the vandalism Elon Musk did unleashing that "Bad Science Fiction Concept Car of Teh Futcha!" onto the public?

Dear God, may they continue to safely protest to protect all of use from Muskrat and minions. Ah, shades of my youth.
EVERYONE knows a Tesla when they see one! It’s not like they even need a logo!

We need Medicaid & Medicare; not another billionaire. (Ahem, getting ready for this coming Wednesday!). Smite!!
Hmm; I'd say, break those into different lines:
We need Medicare
Not another billionaire
We need Medicaid
Stable jobs and US AID
etc....
Allejuia! Praise be to God!
There's a picture of a ring of cops around a Tesla dealership in...Chicago, I think.
I find that hilarious.
More of this. More of all of this!! Love it.
Canadian with a Twist of America. Or rather, 'Murica'
Teslas are self igniting fire bombs. Just pour some gas on one and stand back!
Let there be SMITE !!!!
