When I see that blatant totally corrupt dictator wanabe, that was found GUILTY of 34 felonies, that had his own handpicked judge delay a trial until appeals would be too late and dismissed the AIRTIGHT case against a TRAITOR, had a corrupt hand stacked supreme court sit on a decision for months to delay what should have gone to trial a year before and then Lied his ass off while crying that he is a victim and still got elected to an office he should have NEVER EVER been in, I see that there will NOT be a peaceful revolution when this trash gets taken out. Only today, Trump's rich puppet master, Musky MuskRAT came out and said that If republicans don't go in total lockstep with Trump, he will spend anything necessary to primary them out of office. This guy could spend $1 Billion dollars a year buying elections for 100 years and still be the richest guy in the world. When there is NO LAW FOR THE RULERS, THERE IS NO LAW THAT THE WELL ARMED RULED NEED FOLLOW! France of 1789 was an example. The thought of Trump and Musk at the head of a long line of Trump enablers, placing their heads in a Guillotine brings joy to this old Vietnam veteran.

I've said for years that killing safety net items and pushing more people off of assistance and leaving them with no hope, they get more disconnected from society as a whole. People who aren't "bought in" to society are more likely to rebel. Republicans have been doing this for years and want to go farther driving us closer to more violence.

This kind of violence really is inevitable under the circumstances. Many members of "We the People" feel like there's nothing much to lose. Plus, R. Reagan destroyed mental health care decades ago. What the heck do people think is going to happen? Our health care system kills people. Some desperate folks are going to seek revenge and make a "strong request" for change. Thanks, God, for bringing us truth.

It's so ironic that a burger should catch out Luigi Mangione... "mangiare" is "to eat", in Italian, and "mangione" is a glutton. Which he's going to have to be, but for punishment now.

Have you told JFC about his other guns (of the muscular kind) and six pack (not those in cans) yet? I've been concerned he might not want to return to Earth, knowing humans have bods like that these days, but placate him with the thought of all of that brawn being behind bars by the time he arrives.

Amen

Awomen

I think he'll probably claim he was addicted to McDonald's food and the additives made him crazy...basically a modern-day take on the 'twinkie defense.' He ate at McDonald's in NYC too, and I saw a picture of him smiling and holding a happy meal box, so apparently he has a thing for them. I just don't get it. Their food is nasty, unhealthy and makes me feel physically ill. It seems like it's more popular than ever though, and the popularity cuts across social and economic classes, e.g. the McDonald's drive-thru in my town features a constant parade of Range Rovers, Teslas, Jaguars, etc. The people buying the McCrap could probably afford to hire private chefs to cook them amazing meals at home if they wanted to. They're as addicted to that garbage as Trump cultists are addicted to him.

I'm in the UK and think they're disgusting too. I occasionally had one when my sister's children were little but... ugh! That's what really shows fat lad's crassness, thinking McD's cheap, soggy burgers are fit to be offered as a meal to visiting dignitaries.

But then, did you see pics of Mar-a-Lardo's Thanksgiving meal?! He'd have been picking it out of his toupée, serving that crap to me!

Dear God; while doing my laundry, I’m looking up the steps that it would take to transition to single payer. I hear doctors would prefer this too. Let’s all get creative and look for what Bernie says is a plan. Or, hey, I’ll bet Elizabeth Warren has a plan!

If we get rid of insurance, and tax the rich appropriately, we would be able to afford universal healthcare. Bernie has been trying since the 70s.

Me too! We would need to be a top Substack with a huge YouTube channel. And even then, my opinions are too spicy for CBS.

Your opinions are right in line with Colbert’s. The vocabulary would have to be toned down for CBS, but Clarence, the Funniest Black Lab on the Internet, manages to Bowdlerize creatively, e.g., “fluffin’” is his f-bomb. I’m sure that you could still sound authoritative yet G-rated. I’m glad that you’re on Substack. My husband acquainted me with Heather Cox Richardson, and her column is the first thing I read every morning. Everyone starts small, and your audience is growing. Thanks for combining humor and political wisdom.

Jesus is great, and I miss Satan growling his way up from Hell. I hope that someday we can have Mary Magdalene, one of

my favorite theologians, back. And “Me bless Me!” Is sheer genius. 😂

I have a hard time believing that the guy was carrying around a manifesto, and all of the stuff required to perform another killing. After he did all of the planning, he's still carrying all of that stuff around with him? This just doesn't smell right.

Well, he lost his mind. I think he wanted to get caught.

Wendy Reid Crisp Lestina's avatar

Because he knew it was inevitable that he'd be caught, and when he did, he wanted his "words" on him, so that if he was killed in the process, or denied press access, etc., the manifesto would survive. This was so carefully planned, conspiracies should fall in his direction: i.e., there is a $50K reward for finding him. Maybe the McDonald's employee was someone he wanted to tip.

Brilliant - You rock! No one should condone the killing of Brian Thompson, but the system certainly needs fixing by lawful and peaceful means. I wish that I could be more optimistic about the likelihood of this.

Unfortunately, just like school shootings are now quickly forgotten in this gun possessed society, I am afraid that this murder will also be quickly forgotten. I am sure the corporate world wants it forgotten, least someone else gets inspired to copy it. Happy Substack Birthday to you, God!! Thank you, God, for once again enlightening us and giving us hope! It is very telling that the response to this shooting is “more security” for CEOs. Heaven forbid the corporate health industry decide to reform how they provide healthcare coverage.

Jan Frederick's avatar

I agree. It would take a lot more than one murder to do anything constructive to change the healthcare system. They will fight tooth and nail to prevent any reform. The cost of additional security will probably raise healthcare cost even more, sadly.

Good afternoon again God. I left a terse comment earlier that probably made no sense to anyone else but me.

Thanks for your post. I enjoy your irreverent humor and would thoroughly enjoy you and Colbert, or John Oliver, doing a podcast.

I would say I will pay to see that, but I already pay you for the pleasure of your company.

Say hi to JFC.

Thank you you're there! And thanks especially for this post. I've been having similar thoughts.

Also, not so long ago I read the short novel, Lady L., by Romain Gary. The anarchist ideologues in France around the turn of the twentieth century are an important part of the philosophical background of this—I had a hard time coming up with a genre and finally landed on "Cozy horror".

There's an intriguing similarity with what we're seeing happening now in the US.

I recommend the book to anyone interested, with the following caveats.

1. This is a book best enjoyed with no spoilers whatsoever. I feel like I may have already given too much away. Certainly, make no attempt to find out more before reading the book.

2. There was a movie adaptation made of the book. After reading the book, I read the Wikipedia article about the movie adaptation. The changes to the story make the movie unrecognizably different from the novel. Avoid or disregard any information from the movie before or while reading the novel.

Keep going forward, dear God!

I remember when I worked in retail and the company believed that giving you a "scrap" of healthcare was part of the job. Now it limits hours to 35 hrs/wk so you don't get overtime and no insurance. Somethings got to give. Oh and denying life saving surgeries is just as bad! Sad state of affairs in what is supposed to be the greatest nation in the world!

Remember people need health CARE not health insurance. There is no need for insurance if an alternative method of paying for care is accepted by the government. It is the reluctance of rich people to pay for health care of the average person that creates a problem here. Medicare for all without copay and deductable is the answer funded by taxes on the rich.
